2 New Cooking with Cannabis Cookbooks

Cooking with cannabis has become a bit trendy throughout the nation. There are more shows, movies, and cookbooks that talk about cooking with cannabis. Also, I have plenty of friends who are exploring this avenue of cooking for health or recreationally. Most of all, it’s become apparent that it is very scientific. Just like in baking, it’s easy for things to go awry if not done properly!

Cannabis Drinks: Secrets to Crafting CBD and THC Beverages at Home

I remember the first time I saw a cannabis drink and was a bit shocked. I know this was naïve of me, but I had no idea you can infuse THC or CBD into a beverage. It would be interesting to experiment with the Cannabis Drinks: Secrets to Crafting CBD and THC Beverages at Home cookbook.

Author Jamie Evans is the founder of The Herb Somm, a culinary-meets-cannabis blog. She is not only the founder of this blog, but also one of Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers in 2018. As far as the weed world is concerned? She was labeled as one of the “Most Important Women in Weed” in 2020.

This cookbook heavily explores what infusion is and how to infused your drinks. We learn about different techniques from very basic to expert, so overall this is a cookbook you can grow with!

If you want to only infuse your beverages with CBD, Evans makes that completely possible as well as infusing your beverages with THC. It’s truly a different kind of mixology!

While flipping through the cookbook you will notice recipes include all kinds of beverages. There are fun summer fizzy drinks for hot days and lattes to start your morning listed in the Cannabis Drinks: Secrets to Crafting CBD and THC Beverages at Home cookbook.

I love that Evans has a chapter of pitfalls and things to look for as you begin your journey of infusing drinks with cannabis! Now we can (hopefully!) avoid those mistakes.

The Art of Cooking with Cannabis: CBD and THC-Infused Recipes from Across America

With the The Art of Cooking with Cannabis: CBD and THC-Infused Recipes from Across America cookbook, we will be focusing on food! There are a few non-spirit cannabis infused beverages in here, but mostly munchies.

Tracey Medeiros is a food writer, recipe developer, and cookbook author. She has had quite a few cookbook releases, but this is her first cannabis oriented cookbook.

In total, there are 125 wonderful recipes to look through in this cookbook. All are organized in sections: THC, Hemp, or CBD. So whatever fits your fancy will be easy to navigate!

I thoroughly enjoy the range of recipes provided in this cookbook. There are dishes from all around the world that you will enjoy. Examples would be: Maple wings, smoky eggplant dip, and a chocolate-spiced parfait.

I appreciate the notes and techniques that are thoroughly explained for each dish. There are even suggestions on how to make recipes vegan.

Of course, the author talks about how to make your own oils properly to infuse CBD, THC, or hemp into each dish. Even though we have a whole host of recipes to use, many of these techniques can be used for future recipes or in ones already in your arsenal!
