Just Desserts: Good Things Come to Those Who Bake
Just Desserts: Good Things Come to Those Who Bake is the little pocket cookbook we’ve all been waiting for. If you’re a baker on the fly, why not take this cookbook with you? It measures 8×6 inches and only has 144 pages, but full of life.
The design is to die for – it is so colorful, bright, and fun. It is akin to a Marimekko pattern with beautiful flowers and geometric shapes decorating the whole book.
Most of the recipes are fairly simple and cover many basic bakes. This includes absolutely stunning cookies, bars, pies, tarts, etc. The basics are covered, but there’s enough ways to enhance many of these desserts to make it a distinct recipe book.

Torta della Nonna: A Collection of the Best Homemade Italian Sweets
The author of Florentine, Emiko Davies, is back to indulge us in Italian sweets. Torta della Nonna: A Collection of the Best Homemade Italian Sweets cookbook is gorgeous! Many of these recipes have been passed down by many generations as well as being Italian classics.
I was floored to see how easy each recipe looks. There are about seven ingredients on average for most of these bakes with hardly any instruction. Sometimes simple is better!
There are eight sections in Italian Breakfasts, Classic treats from Nonna’s oven, Snacks, Biscuits, Recipes for celebrations, Treats to eat with a spoon, Frozen treats, and Five essentials for all Italian cooks.
You are going to feel fully immersed in Italy after looking through this cookbook. Many of these photos are shot directly in Italy and feel wholesome.
The Ultimate Book of Chocolate: Make Your Chocolate Dreams Become a Reality
When I was a kid, I used to hate chocolate.. now I can’t get enough! The darker the better! Now I love using chocolate or cocoa in my cooking and baking. The Ultimate Book of Chocolate: Make Your Chocolate Dreams Become a Reality cookbook is an encyclopedia of chocolate knowledge. There are clear instructions for techniques like tempering chocolate, chocolate moose, meringue, and more.
Each technique is broken down in large illustrated photos that clearly show exactly what you need to do. There are some complicated methods for creating delicious chocolate treats that require extra attention.
We even are provided a list of utensils, tools, and appliances we will need for each chocolate morsel. Pictures are also included! This is incredibly helpful, since there are so many specialty tools with unique names that I’ve never heard of. Having a visual will make handling chocolate easy.
Chocolat: From the Cocoa Bean to the Chocolate Bar
Author Pierre Marcolini is one of world’s leading chocolatiers who is now gifting us a cookbook to utilize at home: “Chocolat: From the Cocoa Bean to the Chocolate Bar”. There are 170 wonderful chocolate treats which are very approachable. Each recipe is broken down in a way we can understand.
The recipes cover a range of difficulty, so this is appealing for any level of candy maker. I can see some of these being very difficult as it requires a bit of finesse and perfect timing. Even if that’s the case, there are quite a few recipes that are effortless – such as the brownies, black forest cake, even the eclairs!
Not only are there photos illustrating each luxurious chocolate treat, but also steps to make them. Some recipes are a little difficult and need specific tools. That just further clarifies the instructions provided – I really appreciate it.
Wild Sweetness: Recipes Inspired by Nature
I have to admit, I wasn’t too thrilled about the cover of the Wild Sweetness: Recipes Inspired by Nature cookbook. Once I looked inside I was blown away. There are 125 full-page photos that illustrate more than just her recipes.
The author, Thalia Ho, is the creator of the award-winning food blog, Butter and Brioche. This cookbook is similar to Thalia Ho’s blog, utilizing her own photos and recipes that make her blog so great.
Everything looks so modern, crisp, and clean throughout the book. It feels incredibly high-end!
Thalia Ho’s goal was to create a cookbook that was easy and approachable to novice bakers and offering elegant desserts simultaneously. As I analyze some of these bakes, they do look quite easy. Ordinarily I would feel apprehensive about baking a lemon streusel cake. Thalia has done an amazing job providing simple ingredients with very few steps!
All of these dishes look amazing. I am looking forward to trying these recipes out! You can always check out the blog first to see if you want to invest in the Wild Sweetness: Recipes Inspired by Nature cookbook.
What is your favorite dessert? I love baking cheesecakes, but only make it a few times a year because they are so heavy! I’d love to expand my dessert library this year.
