One of my bucket list items is to go to as many countries I can and taste the local cuisine. I love traveling and being adventurous – especially when it comes to food. I will try anything! What if there was a cookbook that provided all of us with tasty classics from Paris to Marrakesh, Beijing to Rio de Janeiro? Such a thing truly exists!

If you’re like me and want to discover all the world has to offer when it comes to food, you’ll want a cookbook encyclopedia. The Adventurous Foodie: 700 Foods You Should Try From Around the World cookbook is very close! Try food from all around the world from the comfort of your own kitchen.
As the title indicates, there are 700 recipes from around the world in this cookbook. If you had one dish every day from this cookbook, you would barely get through it in 2 years! The Adventurous Foodie: 700 Foods You Should Try From Around the World cookbook covers 155 different nations spanning from popular locations like California, but also other unusual countries that some of us have never heard of.
This is not just a collection of recipes, but is rather a book focused on experiences and amazing food. It’s very informative and describes where certain foods originate or describes specific delicacies for some countries. Simultaneously we learn about each culture and each country’s favorite dish(es.)
Most recipes are very easy and simplistic. Which makes sense, because households are able to cook these on a whim as they please. No need to complicate the classics. Many of the dishes provide instructions and ingredients, but there are some that only provide a loose description of ingredients and techniques.
I am in love with how organized The Adventurous Foodie: 700 Foods You Should Try From Around the World cookbook is. Everything is alphabetized, first by country, next by dish. They have even color-coordinated the pages for us in case we get totally lost! This was an ingenious way to arrange the book, especially with 700 recipes to look through.
Recipes and dishes are all labeled with what region or country they are from and what kind of dish it is. Meaning, now we know if it is a dinner, dessert, appetizer, technique, etc.
My only gripe is that it is lacking large colorful photos. Understandably, it would be difficult to reduce the size of the actual book, have 700 recipes, and have large photographs. Instead, there are small illustrations side by side with many of the dishes. The cookbook does a great job describing what everything should look like and how to assemble it. Many chapters even include which dishes pair well with each other!
Now we can get a glimpse of cuisine from all around the world. It would be so amazing to experience these dishes from our own homes. Learning how to cook like a local is just the beginning of new adventures! The Adventurous Foodie: 700 Foods You Should Try From Around the World cookbook will guide us not only through cuisine around the world, but also through each culture!
If you could try any cuisine from around the world, what would it be?
