Some of you may know that I’ve been diving into a plant-based diet this year. Honestly, I was dreading it, but after a few weeks of the change I’m realizing how I don’t notice the difference. Vegan food is super tasty! Now I’m more eager to look at some more vegan-oriented cookbooks to see what more I can experiment with.
Before I did this change, I thought plant-based was just a bunch of salads. It turns out you can eat all your favorite comfort foods and still maintain that vegan diet! Check out the fabulous cookbook Great British Vegan: Simple, Plant-based Recipes to Cook the Nation’s Favourite Dishes!
Aimee Ryan, the author, has made home-style British cooking easy to accomplish the vegan way. There are 80 comforting delicious recipes in this cookbook. Some British classics you will recognize done vegan are shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, Yorkshire puddings, and more!

My only gripe with this cookbook is that the “Vegan Essentials” are in the back of the book! Immediately once you receive Great British Vegan: Simple, Plant-Based Recipes to Cook the Nation’s Favourite Dishes! you should flip to the back of the book. Time to restock the pantry and eat more plant-based!
I am so curious how Aimee Ryan turns things like fish and chips into vegan dishes. Like I said, eating feels better, but you hardly notice it is vegan!
This cookbook is exceptional and shows that you can eliminate all animal-based products and still have flavor. All these vegan recipes are going to feel like a big hug once you try! The most exciting part is being able to eat a lot of these recipes without some of the digestive consequences.
Here is a magnificent part of the Great British Vegan cookbook… the ingredient guide. Aimee does a fantastic job breaking each part of veganism down. There’s a whole guide which things to replace to make it vegan, such as meats, you would replace it with tofu, lentils, beans, etc.
As a fellow meat eater, some of these ingredients might be intimidating. Some things are foreign, but Aimee breaks everything down concisely. Once you get used to all the new items in your kitchen, cooking with this cookbook will be a breeze.
The recipes are not very complicated, but look complex. Many of the dishes only take about 30 minutes max to prep and cook (impressive!)
Learn to cook your favorite British comfort foods the vegan way with Great British Vegan: Simple, Plant-Based Recipes to Cook the Nation’s Favourite Dishes! Eating vegan and plant-based is a growing trend, because it is so healthy! It’s environmentally friendly too. No need to sacrifice the things you enjoy for a better life thanks to Aimee Ryan’s cookbook!
