Lasagna is a family favorite in my household. My husband and I tend to make it for special occasions, because it is so tasty. Our standard lasagna is made with a combination of an alfredo sauce and meat sauce, so it is a little involved. The one reason why we go all out is because we can reheat it all week and it tends to be better as it soaks up all the delicious sauce!
We’ve always talked about making different kinds and now thanks to this cookbook, we can!

Even after reading a little about 101 Lasagnas & Other Layered Casseroles I’m realizing the recipes are endless. The thought of creating Asian short ribs with wonton noodles in lasagna form hadn’t crossed my mind. What about an apple pie lasagna? Now we’ve traveled beyond dinner into dessert! This is just a glimpse of the kinds of recipes you will find in this cookbook. The author, Julia Rutland, takes everyone’s favorites and turns it into lasagna. It’s so simple, but genius!
The introduction illustrates what kinds of pans should be stocked for lasagna making. Many cookbooks don’t go in depth as to why we should use glass, aluminum, or cast iron for specific recipes. I really appreciate that Julia Rutland takes the time to explain the pros and cons of each.
There is also instruction on how to construct your lasagna and what to watch out for when layering. The recipes are arranged by category: meat, poultry, vegetarian, seafood, and dessert. There are even plant-based lasagna dishes for those who want to try something a bit healthier.
I do wish there were more pictures, because I am sure all of these look absolutely delightful. Who would have imagined over 100 lasagna recipes even existed?
