9 South American and Latin Cookbooks to Heat Up the Winter

As I have gotten older, my love for south of the border food has been refueled. I grew up with Tex-Mex food and over time I have been dabbling in South American cuisine (and exploring the culture!) I love South American and Latin food all year around, but during the cold season my tummy seems extra pleased with the extra heat!

Here are 9 new South American and Latin cookbooks coming out this fall that will light up your kitchen!

If the cover of World Food: Mexico City: Heritage Recipes for Classic Home Cooking [A Mexican Cookbook] wasn’t enough to get you hooked, the pictures throughout the cookbook will! With more than 150 photos and 50 recipes, this cookbook will make you king of Mexico!

Comida Mexicana: Snacks, Tacos, Tortas, Tamales & Desserts cookbook presents authentic Mexican cuisine. With vastly diverse snacks, main courses, desserts, and drinks you can eat like a local.

I’m sure some of us have had essences of Chilean food. Why not take the leap and immerse yourself in The Chilean Kitchen: 75 Seasonal Recipes for Stews, Breads, Salads, Cocktails, Desserts, and More? I am very excited about each dish being divided up by season, I think that’s a very unique way for us to experience Chilean food authentically.

I am intimidated by cooking seafood, I will admit it. Cooking international seafood recipes is a whole other fear, but I would love to conquer it! The Mexican Seafood Cookbook: The Best Authentic Mexican Seafood Recipes, from Our Casa to Yours provides many unique and fun Hispanic seafood recipes that are beyond tacos. Overall, this is a fantastic cookbook for Mexican cuisine, because there are more than just seafood recipes listed!

If Mexican American cuisine is more your thing, I would check out Luscious Latino American Recipes: Your Cookbook for Dishes from South of the Border! Many of these recipes are passed down from immigrants and adapted to local tastes. These dishes are easy to make and you can find ingredients with ease.

The Narcos Cookbook: A Cartel of Exotic Food is a fun cookbook. If you’ve ever seen the Netflix show Narcos, you will notice all kinds of food (obviously props.) I had a few moments (oddly) of insatiable happen after watching an episode or two. Now, you can recreate some of these dishes at your home!

I am in love with My Mexico: A Culinary Odyssey with Recipes cookbook! This is divided up by regions, so we can actually see the differences of Mexican cuisine. There are beautiful narratives that go along with each region and recipe.

Who says you can’t enjoy Mexican cuisine and not be loyal to your keto diet? With Keto Mexican Rice and Low-Carb Meals: Easy Keto Mexican Rice Recipe and More to Help You Lose Weight and Stay Healthy you will find some of your non-keto favorites redesigned to fit your needs!

If you’re looking for a cookbook that has a little of every country, I would look at Herencia Cookbook: Celebrating and honoring SalviMex culture and matriarchs through food. There are over 65 recipes from Mexico, El Salvador, and more.

All of these cookbooks look like fantastic contenders for my bookshelf! I’d love to dig into more Chilean or Peruvian food this winter. What are some of your favorite Latin or South American recipes?
