China, in particular, has a plethora of dishes that are vastly different from each other. I am thrilled to look through The Asian Market Cookbook: How to Find Superior Ingredients to Elevate Your Asian Home Cooking by Vivian Aronson. You can see her in action on her YouTube Channel Cooking Bomb!
Vivian Aronson was born in Chengdu, China, the capital of Sichuan Province. Originally she learned to cook from her family, especially her grandmother, who own and operate several restaurants in China. Then she moved to the United States in 2005. Vivian started cooking on social media in 2018 her channel took off. Now she posts on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok as @CookingBomb
According to Vivian, the key to making flawless Chinese food is using top-notch ingredients. With The Asian Market Cookbook: How to Find Superior Ingredients to Elevate Your Asian Home Cooking cookbook, she guides on how to select Asian components to make scrumptious food.
The chapters are listed as such:
- Sauces
- Condiments
- Noodles and Rice
- Dry Spices
- Preserved Foods
- Sweets
Following each chapter is a list of ingredients necessary for Asian cooking. At the end of each chapter, there is a list of recipes that utilize those primary components. An example is under the “sauce” chapter. She notes Korean Gochujang sauce as a necessary ingredient for Asian cooking and uses it in her Homemade Kimchi recipe.
This cookbook is more than just a recipe book! If you’re unfamiliar with Asian cuisine, this is a great place to start. We learn to select standout sauces, condiments, spices, noodles, and more from the aisles of your local Asian market, then incorporate them into 60 must-try meals!
I am looking forward to preparing Chinese classics like Sesame Chicken and Chinese Scallion Pancakes! There are also recipes I’ve never seen before such as Braised Beef Stew with Radish and Raindrop Cake.
I cannot wait to try this cookbook out! I have a feeling that this one may make it to my cookbook shelf.
