Here’s a little tidbit about myself – I am a gamer! I thoroughly enjoy geeky cookbooks. This is especially true when I see a cookbook based on my favorite videogame! I’m thrilled to show you a few brand new game-oriented cookbooks I think you will like.

There are at least three videogame cookbooks coming out before Christmas. I’m surprised I haven’t seen them on the table before!
Tomb Raider: The Official Cookbook and Travel Guide
by Sebastian Haley (Author), Tara Theoharis (Author), Meagan Marie (Author)
Tomb Raider was one of my first videogames I ever played. To see a cookbook based on Lara Croft’s world was incredibly nostalgic!
Tomb Raider: The Official Cookbook and Travel Guide was created in honor of the franchise’s 25th anniversary! I can’t believe this game has been out for a quarter of a century.
If you’re looking for a worldly cookbook, Tomb Raider: The Official Cookbook and Travel Guide is perfect. There are over 40 unique recipes from all over the planet. This includes South America, Polynesia, Britain, etc.
Each recipe comes from a specific country that Lara has visited. I especially love that they’ve given us the origins for almost every dish in the cookbook.
I was surprised by how different each dish was. It delivers many popular local recipes for each region. For instance, in Japan, there’s a recipe for Okonomiyaki. In Lara’s hometown, England, there are Beans on Toast. While in Peru we see Lomo Saltado. There are also delightful beverages!
The Tomb Raider: The Official Cookbook and Travel Guide acts as a cookbook, and also a travel guide. There are blurbs throughout to explain the area Lara explores. Remember, Lara Croft is an archaeologist. That means we learn the ancient history behind each place we visit.
I am intrigued by Tomb Raider: The Official Cookbook and Travel Guide. Lara Croft was a big inspiration for me to major in anthropology in college!
Assassin’s Creed: The Culinary Codex
I have never played an Assassin’s Creed game! This is something I need to do soon. The Assassin’s Creed: The Culinary Codex is very similar to the Tomb Raider cookbook.
Follow all your favorite Assassins through time. You can relive the highlights of the Italian Renaissance, the French Revolution, and even Victorian London!
There are 40 recipes and complete menus that will help you travel back in time.
Some of these recipes I’ve never encountered. Examples are Masyaf Moutabel, Davenport Homestead Soup, Frankish Lamb, Colonial Coleslaw, Meringues Mirabeau, etc. Many of these dishes are very elegant. I am surprised to see such sophisticated recipes in a videogame cookbook!
Luckily, the steps to complete each dish are very clear and concise.
Assassin’s Creed: The Culinary Codex is organized by Assassin from each game. There is Altair Ibn-La Ahad, Edward Kenway, Jacob and Evie Frey, to name a few.
The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook: The Essential Culinarian Guide to Hydaelyn
I have a confession – I am obsessed with Final Fantasy! I used to play this massively multiplayer online (MMO) game back in the day. I still want to go back, but it is a huge time commitment.
I can take the wonder home with me with the The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook: The Essential Culinarian Guide to Hydaelyn. Many of these dishes you can create in the game too!
There are over 70 different recipes provided. You can use them for large gatherings or weekday meals. The choice is yours!
The descriptions on the top make me giggle – in a good way. The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook: The Essential Culinarian Guide to Hydaelyn feels straight out of another world. The stories are cute and fun – truly perfect for any Final Fantasy fanatic. For a more authentic feel, each recipe is labeled with the region it originates.
My favorite feature about this cookbook is the dietary notes! This is very useful for those who have restrictions and need to make adjustments. My only complaint is that it doesn’t show gluten-free recipes!
As a Final Fantasy fan, I adore this cookbook!
Are there any other gamers out there that love cooking?
