I am so thrilled about the Joshua Weissman: An Unapologetic Cookbook. Joshua Weissman has his own website with a whole bunch of recipes to try. The recipes are linked to his YouTube channel so you can cook along with him!
I love what the publisher has to say: “How can you know if something is your favorite if 50 to 80 percent of the stuff you’ve been eating was made by someone else? Butter, condiments, cheese, pickles, patties, and buns.” Weissman claims we should know how to make these because they taste better and when fresh are truly life changing.
We get little bits of building blocks throughout the cookbook to use in other recipes. For example, homemade mayonnaise for an amazing BLT. We also learn how to make our own sourdough bread for the same recipe.
Weissman provides over 100 recipes in his cookbook. There are recipes for your own nut butters, Austin breakfast tacos, and perfect fried Brussels sprouts!
The recipes range from easy to hard. I enjoy that Weissman’s instructions are really clear, but are also quirky! It’s like taking lessons from a friend.
Here’s the thing with the Joshua Weissman: An Unapologetic Cookbook: he reminds us good food requires work. There’s no “30 minute recipes with 5 ingredients” stuff in here. It’s an honest cookbook… because good food requires time!
What are some of your favorite Joshua Weissman creations? Take a look on YouTube for some spoilers. Personally, his homemade Oreo cookie is a dream!

I love Joshua’s YouTube channel, not least because I have a friend who lives in Texas and I’m constantly sending videos to give him ideas about local cuisine he should be learning how to cook for us next time we visit! I think he may find this cookbook landing on his doorstep now though. I hope he likes it. He’s got homework to do now.
Yes! I love the nudge to your friend. I am typically the one cooking for my friends, so I understand! I hope he enjoys the cookbook – it is supremely helpful. Plus, cooking alongside Joshua’s YouTube channel is something you can’t beat.
