The Art of Fufu: A Guide to the Culture and Flavors of a West African Tradition Cookbook

As a city girl I am fairly lucky with how many cultures I am exposed to. Even so, there’s hardly any African cuisine available. This is something I feel robbed of! This is the reason I have to start cooking at home.

I am incredibly curious about this new cookbook “The Art of Fufu: A Guide to the Culture and Flavors of a West African Tradition”. I’ve never tried West African cuisine or fufu!

This looks incredible – I am hungry now!

I think I’ve found the solution to my lack of bread in my life. “Fufu” means “mash” or “mix,” and is a staple in West and Central Africa, as well as the Caribbean. Fufu is a spongy dough made from boiled and pounded starchy food crops like plantains, cassava and yams – Thus, it’s gluten-free!

Fufu is typically paired with a delightful soup or curry. This is a staple combination of dishes in West Africa.

“The Art of Fufu: A Guide to the Culture and Flavors of a West African Tradition” shows you the various ways you can make fufu. That means different kinds of flour and starches.

This cookbook also goes over many kinds of soups and curries to dip your fufu in. You can explore West African cuisine and the various flavors! I can’t wait to try the soups during fall.

Have you had West African cuisine? I am so excited to try something new this holiday season!
