New Gluten-Free Cookbook Releases for Spring 2021

I’m sure most of you know that I adhere to a gluten-free diet. I am always out on the hunt for new cookbooks that are gluten-free friendly. To my pleasant surprise, there are so many wonderful gluten-free cookbooks being released this spring! Let’s show you some of my favorites.

The Flour Craft Bakery & Cafe Cookbook: Inspired Gluten Free Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, Tea, and Celebrations

I am so excited to show you guys The Flour Craft Bakery & Cafe Cookbook: Inspired Gluten Free Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, Tea, and Celebrations.

Ever since Hardcastle was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, she has had a passion for finding and creating recipes for people just like her (and me!) She was finally able to open her bakery Flour Craft Bakery in 2013. She uses high quality ingredients and makes gluten-free baking incredibly approachable.

There are over 75 recipes that only require very basic baking knowledge. Many of these treats are all sweet desserts. She has also provided some savory recipes such as salads and soups trickled throughout this cookbook. In addition, she has given us a teff-based sourdough starter, various scone recipes, and more in her “Master Baker” section.

She’s provided additional tips and tricks for each recipe. I appreciate that she has listed some of your pantry essentials when it comes to gluten-free baking. Every contribution to your pantry is practical. This makes for a smooth baking process.

The dishes are beautifully photographed throughout this cookbook. Everything is so bright and enticing!

Surprise! It’s Gluten Free!: Entrees, Breads, and Desserts so Delicious You Won’t Know What’s Missing

I adore the title of the Surprise! It’s Gluten Free!: Entrees, Breads, and Desserts so Delicious You Won’t Know What’s Missing cookbook! Mostly because I have used that phrase on numerous occasion “surprise! It’s gluten-free!” – I know I’m not alone here!

This cookbook has 100 gluten-free recipes that will fool even the most nitpicky person in your life. As a lot of know, if you’ve bought pre-made gluten-free items at the store, there is a particular taste and texture that isn’t pleasant. This cookbook will make sure you won’t ever miss gluten-filled flour again.

Author Jennifer Fisher supplies us with three kinds of flour blends recipes that don’t leave you with a cardboard flavored dish. The thought of only having three blends and still retaining flavor seems like an almost impossible endeavor.

There are more than just flour blends in this cookbook. Fisher has listed some pantry essentials for gluten-free cooking. This includes ways of “rising” breads or cakes without using gluten-filled yeast. She also lists thickening agents that won’t make your food taste grainy or gelatinous. There are all kinds of cooking tips that will make our lives easier when immersing ourselves into the gluten-free world.

Some of the recipes included are pizzas, breakfasts, breads, and a plethora of dessert options. One dish I cannot wait to try out from this cookbook is the fish and chips! I don’t think I’ve had a decent gluten-free fish and chips meal in over a decade.

This cookbook has a fresh and funky design which makes it fun to look through. Plus, Jennifer Fisher gives us little blurbs about her life and how she came upon these recipes for each dish. Some have extra tips to make cooking easier and stress free!

Baking with Beans: Make Breads, Pizzas, Pies, and Cakes with Gut-Healthy Legumes

I am fascinated with the Baking with Beans: Make Breads, Pizzas, Pies, and Cakes with Gut-Healthy Legumes cookbook. My reason is because learning how to bake gluten-free and vegan is incredibly difficult. Apparently with beans anything is possible.

This cookbook has 44 recipes total and 33 of them are gluten-free – so it isn’t entirely exclusive. With these recipes, we can learn how to eat a bit healthier using bean alternatives while maintaining good flavors. Plus, we can eat some of our favorite baked goods and maybe even lose a little weight while we are at it!

Lina Wallentinson, the author, explains different kinds of baking methods and what beans work best for each dish. This is incredibly helpful as some people prefer certain flavors, textures, or even avoiding allergies to certain products! These tips are going to help you throughout the book to make the best decision for you and your family.

There are recipes I was pleasantly surprised to see in this cookbook. For instance: a granola recipe with dried cooked lentils rather than rolled oats. I’m curious what the texture and flavor would be! Everything else is essentially the same. We have pizza dough recipes, bread, and of course desserts for your sweet tooth in the household!

Sweet Laurel Savory: Everyday Decadence for Whole-Food, Grain-Free Meals: A Cookbook

The Sweet Laurel Bakery is known for their sweets. They even have a cookbook Sweet Laurel: Recipes for Whole Food, Grain-Free Desserts: A Baking Book that came out in 2018 that is strictly sweets. Now with Sweet Laurel Savory: Everyday Decadence for Whole-Food, Grain-Free Meals: A Cookbook, they are showcasing all their delightful savory goods and putting sweets on the backburner.

There are plenty of sweet treat gluten-free baking books, but I miss many savory baked goods like quiche! This cookbook has recipes like empanadas, bread, pizza, galettes, and so much more, all with unique flavors using the freshest ingredients.

Sweet Laurel Bakery is known for using whole food ingredients, because we tend to lose a lot of nutrition with premade items! Baking can be easy and healthy without having to restrict our diets.

It’s normal to think it’ll take a lot of time and money to make good-for-you foods, but this cookbook proves otherwise. There’s a very relaxed approach to this book and many dishes can be thrown together and put in the oven to sit.

There are three parts to this cookbook, which are then divided into different chapters. The first part explains exclusively preparing your kitchen for gluten-free deliciousness. Next are her breads and crackers – basically, what I call, the “dippables.” The final chapter explores all kinds of recipes from breakfast, large family feasts, to tiny treats to get you through a work day. They have you covered with 85 wonderful recipes!

Gluten-Free Baking for Beginners: The Essential Guide to Sweet and Savory Baking

I wish I had this Gluten-Free Baking for Beginners: The Essential Guide to Sweet and Savory Baking cookbook when I was first diagnosed with Celiac! This cookbook is a gift for those who are just journeying into gluten-free baking.

Johnna Wright Perry has simplified all the gluten-free baking know-how, so it’s palatable for beginner bakers. There are even things in here that I didn’t know about, such as how many binders you can use for your baking: chia seeds, flaxseed, psyllium husk, etc. I’m excited to see what other cook tricks there are for gluten-free baking that I haven’t heard of.

One small thing I thoroughly enjoy is how she’s listed each expected recipe at the beginning of each chapter. For instance, in her “quick bread, cakes, and cupcakes” chapter, she lists banana bread, zucchini bread, spice cupcakes with maple frosting, and so much more. That will make navigation incredibly easy!

The recipes included are cookies, cakes, breads, muffins, and more.

The Complete Gluten-Free Vegan Cookbook: 125 Recipes Everyone Can Enjoy

Going vegan was a bit of a struggle for me earlier in the year, because so many vegan options have lots of wheat or soy in them. The Complete Gluten-Free Vegan Cookbook: 125 Recipes Everyone Can Enjoy is going to be very helpful for those who want or have to do both diets!

One of my favorite features of this cookbook is the “sneaky” section. Justin Weber lists a few of the common “non vegan” and “non gluten-free” items that may seemingly be fine to eat. I’m glad he addressed soy sauce under the gluten-free list, because that was one item I was horrified to find out has gluten in it! This will be incredibly helpful for newbies in both areas or as just a refresher.

This cookbook is meant to be easy to use and navigate. The chapters are fairly self explanatory, with an expected list of recipes at the beginning of each chapter. Each dish can be completed within 30 minutes!

The recipes are very simple and are dishes that people love and crave. Delicious breakfast items, such as pancakes, muffins, and cinnamon rolls are provided. There are also wonderful mains like ramen, enchilada, and burgers! You won’t miss a thing if you’re deciding to go vegan and gluten-free simultaneously!

There is a whole chapter dedicated to what you should and should not have in your pantry! There are also basic techniques and tools that you will want to know as you start cooking gluten-free.

I’m so glad there are so many cookbook options for people who have gluten intolerances or want to go gluten-free. There are a lot of options out there and adventurous chefs doing a bit of the legwork!
