One of my library haul cookbooks this week was the Honey & Co.: The Baking Book cookbook. I’d never heard of London restaurant Honey & Co (established 2012) until now. Restaurant owners Sarit Packer and Itamar Syulovich met at a restaurant in Israel, fell in love, started Honey & Co., and then opened the Honey & Spice food store as well as a second restaurant, Honey & Smoke. They specialize in Middle Eastern cooking (my personal favorite kind of food).
Let’s take a look at several of Itamar Srulovich and Sarit Packer’s gorgeous and inspiring cookbooks!

Their first cookbook was Honey & Co: The Cookbook, which came out in 2015. I really enjoyed reading the introduction, where the chefs tell their story of how they met, fell in love, and all the details on how they started their restaurant. Recipes inside this cookbook include spreads, dips, salads, one-pan meals, soups, Persian entrees, and stews.
Next we have Honey & Co at Home: Middle Eastern Recipes from Our Kitchen, which came out in 2019. This might be my favorite of their cookbooks, because I hosted parties often (pre-2020) and there’s a chapter on Cooking for Friends and another on Cooking for Crowds. Other chapters feature making spice mixes for your kitchen pantry, cooking for two, cooking for the weekend, cakes and baked desserts, vegetarian dishes, relishes, sauces, pastes, and a recipe for green shakshuka I’m dying to try.
I’m not sure why Golden: Sweet & Savory Baked Delights from the Ovens of London’s Honey & Co. has such a different cover than the other cookbooks. It came out as a reprint in 2016, from Little, Brown & Co. It has chapters called Dead of Night – Store Cupboard; First Light – Sweet & Savory Breakfasts; Mid-Morning – Elevenses; High Noon – Lunch; Before Sunset – Teatime; and After Dark – Traditional Desserts. (What a fun way to categorize this cookbook!) I’m very intrigued by a recipe for spiced cauliflower muffins!
The original version of Golden is Honey & Co: The Baking Book, which came out in 2015 from Saltyard Books. I much prefer this cover!
In May, the authors will release their new cookbook, Honey & Co: Chasing Smoke: Cooking Over Fire Around the Levant (2021). I’ve already got it on pre-order at my local library!
I can’t wait to get the rest of these cookbooks and start cooking my way through. I’ll be brave and try to make my own shakshuka, but I’m such a spice wimp, I probably won’t be making any of the spice mixtures featured in most of these cookbooks. Flipping through carefully, I can assure you these have wonderful food photography and easy-to-read recipes!
