Pickling, Food Prepping, Fermenting – These Cookbooks Have it All

Every summer, my family and I like to make our own dill pickles. We have a whole assembly line of us each doing different duties. My cousin and I tend to peel the garlic together, which arguably is the worst job. I remember one year, we didn’t have enough cucumbers to fill all the jars that we had accumulated. My uncle told me “Well what do you want to put in it?” My husband immediately chipped in with all kinds of vegetables, but I was flabbergasted. I honestly never really expanded from cucumbers and garlic, even though I use pickled “things” all the time while I cook. It’s something I’ve always wanted to experiment with – learning how to can, pickle, or preserve food.
