Do Some Retro Cooking with the I Love Lucy Cookbook

Below is one of my favorite episodes of “I Love Lucy.” I think a lot of us ladies feel this way, especially now most of us are a part of the workforce. Dads are now staying at home with the kids and cooking! That means more cookbooks are necessary for every single one of us! Most of us don’t have time to be like amazing Lucy! I know when I’ve tried, my kitchen ends up like Lucy’s when Ricky and Fred try to navigate Lucy’s world.

Let’s hope none of the recipes in The I Love Lucy Cookbook: Classic Recipes Inspired by the Iconic TV Show cookbook are inspired by Ricky or Fred from the “Job Switching” episode from above – Sorry! I have been waiting almost a year to check out this cookbook, so I am very excited to share what I find with you!

I Love Lucy is what I think of when I think  of the “classics.” If you haven’t seen it, the show is hilarious and full of love and community. To be able to cook meals from the show is going to be so much fun!

To celebrate the 70th birthday of I Love Lucy this year (the real date is October 15th), you can binge watch the TV show and eat all the Ricardo favorites. Hopefully we will be able to throw parties by then, because that would be a hoot!

This isn’t a very long cookbook, only 192 pages, but every bit is worth a peek. With clips from the show, recipes, and retro art, this cookbook is a lot of fun to look at. It will be a hoot to reminisce about Ricky’s Cuban diner or when Lucy works in a chocolate factory. All these dishes are available in The I Love Lucy Cookbook: Classic Recipes Inspired by the Iconic TV Show.

One of my favorite aspects of this cookbook is there is an episode reference for every recipe. Now we can go through all of I Love Lucy’s seasons and know exactly what to plan for. There is also a blurb below the episode number and name explaining what happens and where each dish comes from.

There are 8 parts to this cookbook:

1) A Little Bit of Cuba
2) A Big Hunk of America
3) European Delights
4) Entertaining the Tropicana Way
5) Breakfast with the Ricardos
6) Delectable Desserts
7) Ladies’ Club Luncheon
8) Special Occasions

Many of these recipes are not only wholesome, but also require hardly any effort. Just the simplicity reminds me of good ol’ home cooking! Many of these dishes don’t require a whole lot of ingredients, but a whole lotta love.

I absolutely adore retro cookbooks. This is why I really enjoy The I Love Lucy Cookbook: Classic Recipes Inspired by the Iconic TV Show being put together like one. If you know someone like me who enjoys a blast from the past, this will make a fantastic gift. The cover is just a glimpse into the retro-chic look that fills the whole book!

Are you as excited as I am to check out more recipes from the The I Love Lucy Cookbook: Classic Recipes Inspired by the Iconic TV Show cookbook? I am thrilled!
