My guilty food pleasure is street foods hands down. I love street food from all places, whether it is the famous taco, or pad Thai, or burgers. It’s all delicious! It tends to be my go-to anytime I can’t think of anything grand to make at home, but I usually end up grabbing take-out. I think I’ve finally found the solution!

I’m thrilled that I can now indulge in all my favorites with the My Street Food Kitchen: Fast and Easy Flavours from Around the World cookbook! This is a godsend for my tummy and my wallet.
If you believe street food is a limited topic, think again – this cookbook has a total of 150 recipes! These dishes come from all over the world, so you can enjoy food from whatever city or country you want! I love that the cookbook is divided up into places versus “time for foods” (i.e. breakfast, lunch, etc.) You can basically eat and armchair travel with this cookbook. From souvlaki to pizza, there’s a little something from everywhere.
Here is a list of the chapter breakdown:
1) New American Foods
2) Mexico & South American
3) Mediterranean
4) Middle Eastern
5) China & Taiwan
6) Japan & Korea
7) South East Asia
8) Passage to India
9) Tricks of the Trade
I am very curious about Chapter: 9 – Tricks of the Trade. Sometimes I’ve tried to mimic how they’ve crafted certain street foods and then it ends up in ruins – thus my needing take-out.
Many of these street foods can admittedly take a long time to make. If you’ve seen some vendors they cook everything in huge pots for long periods of time. Luckily with My Street Food Kitchen: Fast and easy flavours from around the world cookbook, the author Jennifer Joyce, provides tricks and techniques to help. For instance, using a pressure cooker to expedite delicious tender meat dishes in a flash. There is a very special way to cook many of these dishes, so hopefully this cookbook will help enlighten us.
Who here doesn’t love a food truck? One thing we can agree on is that a lot of that food can be unhealthy. Cooking at home will help you dictate how much sugar, salt, fat, etc. goes into each dish. With the My Street Food Kitchen: Fast and Easy Flavours from Around the World cookbook you can enjoy street tacos, but add something healthy to the mix.
Mostly, I’m excited to try something new and authentic. I personally believe street food is a glimpse into another culture. It’s the quick, fun food people grab while wandering and exploring a city’s streets. This cookbook is going to open up entire countries and possibilities of cuisine. My hope is that it will inspire us to be more adventurous at home! Plus, who wouldn’t want to eat street food everyday, anyway?
