Bill Granger’s first cookbook called Sydney Food really paved the way for Australian cooking. 20 years later he finally released this new cookbook exclusively about Australian food.
Let me just give you a run down on Bill Granger. Straight out of art school, he became a self taught culinary master. In the beginning he just cooked at a small eatery that was very minimalistic. They served small domestic dishes around a communal table. Quickly gaining popularity, he became Sydney, Australia’s egg master and was even deemed the founder of avocado toast. Some would argue that Granger has given Australian cuisine the global spotlight firsthand.
Australian Food the cookbook has a lot of those old recipes from Sydney Food, but now they’re more refined. After 20 years of traveling the world things are bound to change.
This cookbook covers some Granger’s known classics such as his ricotta hotcakes and corn fritters. Australian Food the Cookbook also has over 100 other recipes. Each is packed with flavor, but they always showcase the main ingredient for each dish. Even the more complex recipes are very easy to follow and do not require an obscene amount of ingredients.
Each recipe has a fun little excerpt to illustrate where and when each dish was created. For instance, if you notice, because of Granger’s hotcake creation now there are chefs who are hotcake specialists. They have to be incredible! This is why I will be making this recipe right away once I get my copy of this cookbook.
This cookbook is like a pocket full of sunshine. You’ll feel a sense of warmth and joy while preparing each dish and eating it! Have you tried or ever wanted to try cuisine from Australia? Where better to start than with Bill Granger’s Australian Food cookbook?
