Cookbooks for Young Chefs or Cooks Starting Out

I remember when I first began really cooking. I would visit my dad in the Midwest and I would have to cook for my 3 sisters and brother. I used to try to emulate meals I would see at restaurants or things that my parents back home would make. Understandably, there were ample mistakes! We didn’t have access to recipes on the go with cellphones or a computer, so I know a cookbook would have helped. It may seem old school, but I know having a cookbook with some basic tips, tricks, and, meals handy will make cooking for beginners and young chefs easy!

If I had the The Ultimate College Cookbook: Easy, Flavor-Forward Recipes for Your Campus (or Off-Campus) Kitchen cookbook life would have been easy! Plus, I wouldn’t have been stuck making the same 3 things every day (yes, Top Ramen counts!) What is really unique about this cookbook is that everything can be made in a dormitory or a full sized kitchen. This definitely opens the doors to creative cooking, especially for college students.

There are 60 recipes in The Ultimate College Cookbook: Easy, Flavor-Forward Recipes for Your Campus (or Off-Campus) Kitchen cookbook. There many recipes recipes to go through and most of them are adjustable for differing diets (i.e. vegan, gluten free, vegetarian, etc.)

I started experimenting with different foods well into my teens. If I had some guidance I know that some of my meals may have been saved! As I peek through The Super Easy Teen Cookbook: 75 Simple Step-by-Step Recipes I’m noticing all kinds of delicious recipes. I love how they’ve divided up the book so that cooking is easier to understand: resources, breakfast, lunch, dinners (separated by meat/vegetable courses), desserts, and a whole host of more cooking techniques in the back.

With this cookbook no meal will be boring, but packed full of flavor and no help from any adults. If you have a young chef on your hands, consider gifting them this cookbook either for the holidays, a birthday, or just for fun. It would be a blast to even cook together!

Now this is a cookbook that I need! Owning a grill seems to be a luxury item these days, so practicing is really limited! For those of you who want to embark on this endeavor, check out How to Grill for Beginners: A Grilling Cookbook for Mastering Techniques and Recipes. Not only are there amazing recipes throughout this cookbook, but they go over the science behind grilling. How much and what kind of heat is perfect for the best flavor!

What kind of recipes would you love to learn and why? I’d love to learn how to grill a rack of lamb, because when it is cooked to perfection there is no other flavor like it! Take a look at some other cookbooks on our website plus more cookbooks for beginners on Amazon!
