I’ve heard it all when it comes to vegan or vegetarian desserts – but mostly the horrified “This is VEGAN!?”
That may have been the case twenty years ago or even ten, but vegan and vegetarian desserts nowadays are SO tasty! I have a few friends who are vegan and I’m always trying to be conscious of how I cook and bake. This can pose a challenge, especially during the holidays.
With the Baked with Love: Over 100 Allergy-Friendly Vegan Desserts (via Amazon) and No-Bake Vegan Desserts: Incredibly Easy Plant-Based Cakes, Cookies, Brownies and More (via Amazon; affiliate link) cookbooks I can bake for everyone!
No pun intended, but I have to give a lot of love to Baked with Love: Over 100 Allergy-Friendly Vegan Desserts (via Amazon; affiliate link) cookbook. As someone who is gluten-free I know it can be a difficult thing to be vegan, believe it or not. Top it off with a nut allergy and baking becomes virtually impossible. But this cookbook will become a godsend as there is a column with all the recipes listing all the allergies that may or may not come into play. Luckily, there are so many that are gluten-free, nut free, and even paleo! This will come in handy for those who need to be more careful and want to enjoy a sweet treat!
If you ever thought you were limited by being vegan or having certain allergies, this cookbook will open a whole world for you! There are over 100 recipes for cookies, cakes, pies, and more. Brittany Berlin (the author) explains the uses of various flours that can be used, and talks about the oils, nuts, and sugar – it’s quite educational. I honestly had no idea there were so many ways of creating tasty desserts. For instance, using applesauce to moisten your cakes instead of eggs. It also acts as a binder!
Getting the supplies seems to be the only difficult part about starting vegan baking. Other than that, everything is almost identical! I wonder if these can translate to traditional non-vegan recipes we already know? I’m sure by practicing with the Baked with Love: Over 100 Allergy-Friendly Vegan Desserts (via Amazon; affiliate link) cookbook, we will become masters in no time.
I was floored to see the No-Bake Vegan Desserts: Incredibly Easy Plant-Based Cakes, Cookies, Brownies and More (via Amazon; affiliate link) cookbook. No bake and vegan all in one cookbook? I couldn’t believe it. When you look through there are all kinds of recipes I would never imagine could be no-bake! Such as, donuts?
There are 60 recipes and 60 glorious photos throughout this cookbook. Everything looks so moist and delicious, I can’t tell the difference between “regular” and vegan in this cookbook! Understandably, this method and vegan desserts can be intimidating. With the help of vegan dessert blogger and founder of Addicted to Dates, (via Amazon; affiliate link) Christina Leopold, this will be a piece of cake. Each recipe is simple and easy to follow. Surprisingly, a lot of recipes don’t require a lot of ingredients! You’ll be amazed at what delicious treats you can bake without baking at all!
I can’t wait to try my hand at vegan baking (or no-baking!) Both books are beautiful and have exciting new recipes I’m eager to try. I have a feeling I’m going to be baking a lot this fall. Now, when I see my friends and family next I’ll be able to make something for everyone! What are some of favorite vegan desserts and or recipes? Feel free to share!
