Indian food has a special place in my heart. You know what is pretty amazing about Indian food? It is mostly gluten free and vegetarian. It’s very easy to make these recipes vegan, as well. I just love the focus on spices, vegetables, flavors, and heat! I absolutely adore it and wish I would take the time to cook it rather than get take out.

This cookbook is a must have on your shelf if you’re at all interested in Indian cuisine. Chaat: Recipes from the Kitchens, Markets, and Railways of India: A Cookbook (via Amazon) is filled with vibrant and fun photos of food. There are so many colors! This book divides each recipe into region and explains some vital techniques necessary for each recipe.
There are a lot of delicious and unique recipes in Milk, Spice and Curry Leaves cookbook. (via Amazon; affiliate link.) One recipe that really jumped out to me is jackfruit curry! That sounds really interesting. You can tell this book was made with love by Ruwanmali Samarakoon-Amunugama’s from their home in Sri Lanka.
I am really eager to look closer at Indian Cuisine cookbook. (via Amazon) There is a variety of recipes that are all special and sound tasty! The recipes in this cookbook are really easy and there over 120 curry recipes alone.
I love that Organic Tales From Indian Kitchens: Warm Spice and Everything Nice cookbook (via Amazon; affiliate link) has stories attached to recipes. India, especially, is booming place and a lot of old recipes from rural villages are disappearing. With this book we can learn from Indian mothers and grandmothers to keep traditions going!
For me, I am looking forward to The Essential Vegetarian Indian Cookbook. (via Amazon; affiliate link) A lot of my friends and family are vegetarian, but feel like they’re sacrificing flavor by not eating meat. It will be a treat to show them what delicious foods they can make! There are many classic Indian recipes in this cookbook, such as aloo gobi, korma, and paneer makhani.
I’m hoping some of these will help me make some flavor filled curries or spicy paneer. If I can make these things at home, I would save so much!
