I have friends who have to homeschool their kids right now, my niece being one, and it can be exhausting. Not just for the parents, but the kids as well. What a perfect excuse to pick up Milk Bar: Kids Only: A Cookbook. (via Amazon; affiliate link) Christina Tosi gives our kids the freedom to play alongside us in the kitchen with fun kid friendly recipes.
If you’re looking for healthy recipes, you’re looking in the wrong place. Fun? Yes, this is it! Tosi breaks down her cookbook by types of recipes, such as sandwich cookies, drop cookies, shakes, biscuits, and more! There is a hefty list of baked goods that will inspire both parents and kids.
Christina Tosi provides a checklist for each recipe which is super helpful. Now you can check things off as you go through each recipe and even number them from most to least favorite!
This isn’t just a recipe book, but full of tips and tricks of the trade. I think this would provide perfect teaching/learning opportunities while we are all stuck at home! There are even things that I had never heard of, like why you would use milk powder versus just milk (or variation).
All of the recipes have relatable stories, easy yet mature language, and encourages experimentation. Some kids cookbooks end up being a little too authoritative, but this is great for adults and children alike. The illustrations are bright and colorful. I’m hopeful that the pictures of kids baking will inspire other kids to want to dive in!
Get creative with Christina Tosi’s Milk Bar: Kids Only: A Cookbook. (via Amazon; affiliate link) and let me know how it goes! I’m sure when I ask my niece about it there will be no complaints – Free cookies?! Yes!
