Checking out the Cookbook “East: 120 Vegan and Vegetarian Recipes from Bangalore to Beijing”

As someone who desperately wants to reduce the amount of meat in their diet, East: 120 Vegan and Vegetarian Recipes from Bangalore to Beijing (via Amazon; affiliate link) immediately appealed to me. Meera Sodha is a well known writer of Indian cuisine and vegan food! I love some of her other recipes from her website.

Let’s take a look inside and see what kind of recipes we can find!

Right off the bat, this cookbook is colorful and vibrant. Each dish presents a rainbow of flavor! There isn’t anything that I wouldn’t try, because each recipe is presented so well. The dishes look refined, but they are easy to cook. According to a few reviews of this cookbook, the ingredients are not only easy to find (hurray!) but Meera simplifies old recipes that tend to be a bit complicated, especially in the Western world.

I personally enjoy each little excerpt Meera writes on the top of each of her recipes. I like to know my cookbook authors and why certain foods appeal to them – why should I cook it myself? She shares stories and informational tidbits for each one.

I found that the recipes are easy to follow. The instructions are clear and concise and it looks like a lot of the recipes don’t require an obscene amount of ingredients. Every time I cook vegan, I feel like I’m using my whole spice cabinet since it’s uncharted territory for me!

Come take a look at East: 120 Vegan and Vegetarian Recipes from Bangalore to Beijing (via Amazon; affiliate link) if you’re wanting to reduce or eliminate your animal intake!
