I love tea. Period. There are so many fun blends out there! Honestly, I have such an abundance of tea I’m forced to share. I say this like it’s a bad thing, but really it’s an excuse to have a tea party! Finding teas isn’t the problem for me (obviously…) My struggle is finding enjoyable foods that look amazing, are easy, and tasty! When I stumbled on TeaTime Birthdays: Afternoon Tea Celebrations for All Ages (via Amazon; affiliate link) I knew I was in luck.
First, the pictures in this cookbook are beautiful. It cannot be emphasized enough… Lorna Reeves, the author, shows us how stunning our tea parties can look with simple foods and decorations. She combines contemporary and traditional aspects to her decorations. Not only does this cookbook give you over 90 recipes, but shows 10 striking table spreads that are vastly different. Can you imagine decorating a Jurassic themed tea party for your boys – or in my case, for myself? Frankly, I couldn’t either, but Reeves does it!
As much as I enjoy the Fairmont Empress tea experience, having a down to earth pajama tea party is just as enjoyable. For some of us with kids, this is a great way to pass the time while we are on lockdown! Even though we are verging on brisk weather, some of us still can gather with friends outside and enjoy a cup of tea. I know for me, I’ve had 3 weekends of birthdays and social distancing ideas are running a little thin. I was thrilled to see this book, because I haven’t thrown an outdoor tea party yet!
TeaTime Birthdays: Afternoon Tea Celebrations for All Ages cookbook breaks down each recipe into different categories, such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lorna Reeves is also generous by giving us advice on tea and food pairings.
Speaking of pairings, one of my favorite pairings with tea is dessert, but more specifically, cake. If you’re like me and need some more dessert or cake ideas, check out another cookbook by one of my favorites: Jenna Rae Cakes and Sweet Treats: Over 100 Recipes for the Modern Baker. Both of these cookbooks will be key to planning a brilliant tea party!
Favorite teas? Party ideas? With crazy tea flavors like cotton candy or lemon martini anything is possible…
