My Top New 5 Pie Cookbooks for Fall 2020

There are so many reasons to love fall… Pumpkin spice lattes, fireplaces, blankets, and PIE. To be honest, pie is one of the first things I think of when someone mentions fall. I love baking pies and secretly would love to be any of those famous Instagram Pie Artists (i.e. @thepieous or @jojoromancer). Admittedly, I’m nowhere close to being as skilled and that’s why I need cookbooks! Because I have so much free time at home baking pies will be no problem. Also, pies make great gifts!

These 5 newly released and coming-soon cookbooks help inspire me to start baking, and I’m hoping they do for you too!

Pie Camp: The Skills You Need to Make Any Pie You Want (Amazon affiliate link) is a fantastic book for beginners and advanced pie bakers alike. What I love most about this cookbook is their breakdown on how to make the pie crusts. Not only is there a description, but many photos for those who are visual learners. (Hello!) This cookbook is for those ready to hone in on their technique. Keep in mind, a lot of the pies listed in this cookbook are dessert pies!

If you want to try your hand at dessert AND savory pies, Pies Glorious Pies is the cookbook for you. One thing I have not successfully been able to do is put a “top” on a pie. A lot of savory and meat pies require that beautiful topped gold crust, which this cookbook goes over in massive detail. This cookbook will shed a bit of light on some of the differences between pies and techniques.

Sometimes I struggle with flavors and filling for pies. With the Pie Academy: Master the Perfect Crust and 255 Amazing Fillings, with Fruits, Nuts, Creams, Custards, Ice Cream, and More; Expert Techniques for Making Fabulous Pies from Scratch, I’d be set!

There are two parts to this cookbook: Behind the scenes and the recipes themselves. Dare I say, this may be the encyclopedia of sweet pies!

Pieometry: Modern Tart Art and Pie Design for the Eye and the Palate is a beautiful cookbook. These are the pies I aspire to bake in my future! Quite honestly, this book I would guess is not for your novice pie baker. It requires at least some experience and willingness to make mistakes. Every pie is so striking visually, but even flavors!

When reading through Elegant Pie: Transform Your Favorite Pies into Works of Art I knew this was indeed art. I want to be able to eat these without feeling guilty! This is a technique heavy book, only sporting 25 recipes. This is mostly for those who have mastered the basics and are ready to move on to artsy pies. I couldn’t help but laugh that the heart pie was for beginners, I have some work to do…

I want to know what your favorite pie cookbook is! Comment below! Just for fun, tell me a bit about your favorite pies!
