I’m so excited to get my hands on this new Halloween holiday cookbook: Tricky Treats: Halloween Delights for Appetizers, Snacks, Dinner and Dessert (via Amazon; affiliate link).
The author, Vincent Amiel, is a food stylist and works helping produce food magazines. This makes me anticipate the food photography in this cookbook will be spectacular!
Chapters include: Halloween Basics (the usual tools and tips section); Appetizers (including mini spider pizzas, breadstick bones, vampire popcorn, witch brooms and a black cocktail); Small Plates and Mains (how about Deviled Dragon Eggs, Savory Pumpkin Head Pie, and Mummified Vegetables in Puff Pastry?); Snacks (Vampire cookies, Monster donuts, worm-eaten chocolate muffins and Bleeding Eye Chocolate Truffles); and Desserts (Spider Cake, Little Green Monsters, Creamy Brains, and Black Candy Apples).
I don’t understand why there are dessert items like truffles, doughnuts and cookies in the Snacks section – I was hoping for more salty and savory snacks. And I’m confused why there’s seemingly random cake up and witch hat cupcakes recipes before the cookbook begins with tips and basics, but I’ll see for myself what’s going on when this cookbook arrives on my doorstep tomorrow afternoon!
Happy spooky season,
Carrie
