The New Cookbook I’m Super Excited About This Week – See You on Sunday

Why am I so excited about the See You on Sunday cookbook (via Amazon) which came out today, February 18, 2020?

I’m a Meetup organizer, and in addition to hosting events at restaurants and bars and movie theaters every week, I host a party at my home every.. single.. week. (Yes, I’m crazy! But it helps force me to keep my house clean and ready to go).

My parties might be Friday night movie parties, casual; occasional Thursday dinners; Saturday night cocktail parties, fancier; Sunday brunches or Sunday Suppers. Sunday Suppers are my favorite, because I bring together people who might not ordinarily sit down to dinner with each other. I love helping people make friends and meet new fun acquaintances, and Sunday Suppers are a great way to do that. And it’s nice to cap off a fun weekend with a relaxed evening with friends and good, simple food.

I’m looking forward to checking out the recipes in Sam Sifton’s new cookbook, but I’m also intrigued by the first chapter, “A Theory of Dinner,” which lays out the case for how important it is to frequently have dinner at home with friends and family.

The rest of the chapters in the book include:

  • Birds
  • Big Meats
  • Big Pots
  • Rice and Beans
  • Pasta
  • Seafood
  • Taco Night
  • Vegetables
  • A Few Words About Salad
  • A Nice Party
  • Pizza
  • Just Us
  • Desserts

It seems like this will make a nice guidebook for those of us attempting to cook and entertain at home more in order to forge connections and create community.

Do you throw Sunday suppers or regular dinner parties for friends? Let me know in the comments below!
