I have a little bit of a collection (more than ten books, but less than twenty?) of gingerbread house cookbooks. I never make gingerbread (I’m allergic to both ginger and cinnamon, sadly) but I love to look through the designs and peek at the charming houses.
Mima Sinclair’s “Gingerbread Wonderland” cookbook has 30 different gingerbread cookies, cakes and houses (including a birdhouse I wasn’t too fond of and a Hansel & Gretel house that was a bit underwhelming). I appreciated the inclusion of a gingerbread springerle cookie recipe, and the Gingerbread Townhouse was darling. Check out the recipe for cute Russian nesting doll cookies, too.

My overall verdict: Not for gingerbread experts, but this small book would make a lovely holiday gift for the amateur baker in your life.
